Snowman Clothespin Ornament Craft Instructions

CraftLinky is designed to help busy, creative people in their search for the perfect holiday crafts or craft projects to make.

  1. Paint the entire clothespin white.
  2. Cut a circle from the black felt the size of a quarter, then another circle a little smaller than a dime.
  3. Cut the circle a little larger than needed at first, then trim it down. This is easier than trying to cut a perfect circle the first time.
  4. Cut two rectangles from the black felt. One ½ inch by 2 inches, the other ½ inch by 1½ inches.
  5. Glue the two rectangles together so that the end of the larger rectangle ends in the center of the smaller rectangle. Let it dry.

  6. Next, wrap the felt around a fat pen (or something similar) with the smaller piece of felt on the inside and glue the two together so you have a ring with the longer piece of felt on the outside and the shorter piece of felt on the inside. Let it dry.
  7. Finally, glue the large and small circles to opposite ends of the ring and you have a top hat. Let it dry.
  8. Cut a piece of 1/8 inch ribbon about 12 inches long. Glue the hanging ribbon onto the back of the clothespin halfway between the neck and the legs.

  9. Cut a piece of white pipe cleaner about 3 1/2 inches long. Bend the tips of the pipe cleaner over to make hands and put a slight bend in the center. Glue this on the back of the clothespin over the hanging ribbon.
  10. Glue on googly eyes, nose, pompoms belt and top hat. Use a black felt tip marker to create a smile that looks like small pieces of coal.
